Dear Birth Parent
We both want to thank you for considering us as adoptive parents. We hope this letter will give you a glimpse into our lives, and dreams of starting a family. Our names are Stephen and Kari. We are so humbled and blessed to have an opportunity to become parents and fill a child’s life with LOTS of love, laughter, and happiness. We are looking forward to beginning our family and cannot wait to share our lives with our first child.
We are both born, raised, and currently reside in Ohio. Most of our friends and family live in this area as well. We met at a University of Cincinnati football game six years ago through mutual friends and have been together ever since.
We live in a three bedroom house in a diverse neighborhood surrounded by a great selection of private and public schools. We enjoy being at home, whether it’s cooking, painting, gardening, swimming, or watching a movie, we enjoy spending time together and most of our family and friends consider us home bodies.
When Stephen and I got married we decided not to have the big ceremony. Instead we used the resources for our adoption journey. We completely gutted the guest bedroom and turned it into a beautiful elephant theme nursery.
Stephen is the youngest of 3 children. He grew up working for the family produce business. At an early age Stephen chore was picking through tomatoes and other produce items. To this day he still cannot eat “chunky” tomatoes.
Stephen enjoyed playing sports all the way through high school, and still enjoys all kinds of sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds, Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame Football, and watching the majors in golf. He plays softball and golf whenever time permits and/or done with the “honey-do-list.”
He graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Business Minor. He currently works as a mechanical engineer manager for a metal processing and distributing firm. Although very devoted to his work, staying close with his family is his number one priority, and spends as much time with them as possible.
Stephen is known to be a child at heart. He has always loved children; teaching them, playing with them, basically acting like a big kid himself. When he met Kari and found out her dream of starting a family one day through adoption, he knew at that moment God had brought us together for a greater purpose.
Stephen (through the eyes of Kari)
When I was a young girl I often wondered and dreamed of what my life would become. I was the girl that dreamed of the happy ever after. Life threw me a few curve balls along the way but I never felt sorry for myself nor gave up on my dream
God answered my prayers when I met Stephen. For me it was love at first sight. His smashing good looks to match his down to earth attitude and laid back happy personality was the PERFECT match for me. My entire family loves him and our friends can see the love and respect we have for each other. His parents are amazing people and raised an honorable, giving, trustworthy man of God who will pass on the same values and morals to your child.
Stephen is the guy that would cancel his plans in a second if someone asked him for his help. The love he has for me and all people is admirable. My husband is truly God sent and my best friend. He is the hardest worker I have ever met, he is kind, giving, authentic, witty, intelligent, and makes me laugh so hard it hurts.
I can’t put into words what an amazing father he will be to your child. From teaching your child how to ride a bike, build a train out of Legos, to reading him or her bed time stories, he will be there every minute of your child’s life.
Kari has 2 older brothers and a younger sister. She has a 12 year old dog name Pacer whom she has had since he was a puppy. Pacer is the baby of the family and is a sweet, nice, sleep all day kind of old dog.
Kari has been working with animals for 15 years plus has an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Working with animals has always been Kari’s passion. She recently resigned from her job so she could help out her family by watching her niece Chloe full time. Chloe is six month old and was born with Down Syndrome. She is beautiful and has the most contagious smile.
In addition to loving animals she also loves participating in charity work. She participates in numerous charity runs throughout the city. She is also active in bone marrow donation through the Be The Match organization.
When Kari was 15 years old she had a procedure done which caused her infertility. She is unable to have her own biological children and has embraced and welcomed the idea of adoption for many years. She loves and adores all children. She is more than ready to embark on this journey and be a great mother.
Kari (through the eyes of Stephen)
Kari is an amazing woman of whom I get to spend the rest of my life with. She is such a strong willed person that has been through so much and still challenges herself every day. She is a person that is admired by everyone because of her positive attitude, her bright personality, and the way she cares for others.
When I met Kari, one of the first things I had to do was meet her dog Pacer. It was the first step in our relationship. I didn’t understand it at first but as our relationship grew, it made sense. She has raised Pacer since he is a puppy and wanted to see how I was around dogs. People are always commenting on what an unbelievable job she did raising Pacer. Just seeing Pacer, I know that she will be an unbelievable mother with so much love and dedication to giving a child the best life possible. Whenever we go anywhere, if there is a child in the room, she always makes her way to the child. She always wants to be around the children whether it is holding them or playing with them because of her desire to be a mother.
Kari is a great person to be around. She has many friends and makes friends wherever she goes. I have never seen a person light up a room the way she does. She seems to be able to make friends with anyone in the same room no matter if they have met before or not. She is always talking with people and seems to be able to make anyone happy. She can make people smile without even saying a word. Anyone in her life means the world to her and she will do anything she can to help no matter what it takes. Kari is the love of my life and brings happiness to my life every day.
